Job Role: Estimator (Kitchens & Joinery)
Compensation range: $1,800 AUD - $2,400 AUD / Monthly
Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement
Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.

Who The Client Is: They are a family-run Australian business specialising in custom kitchens, cabinetry and joinery for residential and commercial projects. They are a hands-on and practical team with a strong focus on quality craftsmanship, accuracy and getting the details right from the start. They work closely together to keep projects organised, quotes accurate and jobs progressing smoothly.
Role Overview: We are looking for an experienced Estimator to take ownership of the end-to-end quoting process for kitchen and joinery projects. You will work from joinery plans and drawings to calculate lineal metres, price materials, colours, hardware and installation, and produce accurate quotes ready for the client. The business will provide its templates, price lists and methodology, so you will have a clear framework to work within from day one. This is a role for someone who reads the detail properly, works through a set of drawings methodically, and takes pride in a quote that holds up. Accuracy here directly protects the margin on every job the business wins.
Key Responsibilities:
Reviewing joinery plans and drawings, including cabinet details, dimensions, finishes and colour selections
Calculating lineal metres and quantities from supplied drawings
Pricing colours and finishes using the supplied price lists
Pricing hardware and componentry
Pricing installation for each job
Preparing a full material and finishes schedule for each project
Producing complete, itemised quotes end-to-end using the business's templates
Raising any gaps or inconsistencies in drawings early so pricing stays accurate
Keeping quoting records and pricing information organised and up to date
Requirements
2–3+ years of proven direct estimating experience in kitchens, cabinetry, or joinery
Confident reading and interpreting joinery drawings and shop plans, including measurements and detailing
Strong numeracy skills and a methodical approach to takeoffs and quantities
Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to work through every detail on a drawing before pricing
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
Requirements
