Remote flexibility

Work from home

This is a remote role, but the employee must be based in United States. It is work from home rather than work from anywhere.

What the employer says

  • Source listing states candidate location: "Remote (United States)"
  • Job description states: "authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for visa"

What Nomaders makes of it

  • Payroll and tax are likely handled in that country only

The quotes above are the employer's own words; the reading is ours. Always check the original listing and employment terms before working from another country.

Before you apply

Experience: employer states

Written as a requirement

  • “You have a track record of building and operating useful software, and can point to work you owned from idea through production.”

Questions worth asking: Nomaders interpretation

  • The advert does not say whether this is employment or a contractor arrangement. Ask, as it affects tax and benefits.

About the role

About Workstreet

At Workstreet , we’re on an exciting journey to help businesses scale securely by designing and implementing cutting-edge security and compliance programs. As a fast-growing startup, we specialize in a wide range of GRC (governance, risk, and compliance) services that support frameworks across SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, CMMC, NIST 800-171, NIST 800-53, and FedRAMP.  We empower companies to meet regulatory requirements and enhance their cybersecurity posture from day one.

The Opportunity

We're hiring a senior engineer to build the software and AI workflows that run Workstreet.

This is an AI-native engineering role. Nearly all of the code you ship will be written with AI. Your job is to understand systems deeply enough to direct that work: design the architecture, give agents the right context and constraints, and put the guardrails, reviews, and tests in place so that what ships is secure, reliable, and correct. Because you'll be working with AI, we care less about which languages and frameworks you've used and more about how well you understand the engineering concepts underneath them.

This is the first role of its kind here. We don't have a traditional product or engineering organization. You'll have substantial autonomy, work directly with the people using what you build, and help decide which problems to solve and how to solve them. The backlog is long, and we move fast.

We ship daily. You should be comfortable taking a well-scoped feature from idea to production in hours and owning what happens after it ships.

What You'll Do

Architect, then direct. Design systems and features, break them into clear tasks, and guide AI agents to build them across interfaces, APIs, databases, integrations, and infrastructure.

Build guardrails that make AI-written code trustworthy. Set up the testing, security review, and verification practices that let us move fast without compromising quality. That matters a lot at a security company.

Turn business problems into useful software. Work with teammates to understand their workflows, define the problem, and ship something they can use. Improve it based on their feedback.

Automate repetitive work. Find manual processes worth improving and build the tools, integrations, and AI workflows to improve them.

Own your work in production. Make sound decisions about security, reliability, and maintenance. When something breaks, investigate it and fix it.

Shape how we build. Define our technical approach, development practices, and use of AI as the tools and our needs evolve.

Who You Are

You're all in on AI-driven development. You write code with AI as a matter of course, not as an occasional assist. You see it as the way software gets built now, and you're excited about what it makes possible.

You think like an architect. You understand how components, data, and workflows fit together, and you can turn an ambiguous problem into a clear plan with the right context, constraints, and checks.

You're language- and framework-agnostic. You have strong command of programming fundamentals and can work productively in whatever stack fits the problem, including ones you haven't used before.

You know when the AI is wrong. You can explain every line you ship, spot flawed output, debug it, and step in directly when needed.

You're a senior engineer who ships. You have a track record of building and operating useful software, and can point to work you owned from idea through production.

You're motivated by what you build. You care most about the outcome: a working product that people use. Handcrafting every line isn't the point for you.

You instinctively automate tedious work. When a task repeats, you look for a practical way to make it easier.

You work well with autonomy. You make decisions, communicate tradeoffs, and move work forward without waiting for a detailed ticket or a meeting.
