Reports To: SVP of Corporate Sales

About the Team:

The extraordinary AlphaSense Sales team is split into two parts: Financial Services and Corporates. The Financial Services Sales Team focuses on sales to hedge funds, asset management, investment banking, and private equity. The Corporate Sales team is verticalized with a focus on the Fortune 1000 in the following sectors: Life Sciences, Technology, Media, and Telecom, Energy and Industrials, Consulting, and Consumer Packaged Goods. Both teams have Enterprise and Mid-Market sales professionals, and an additional team focuses exclusively on Investor Relations.

We are now launching a Government & Public Sector vertical, and this role is our first dedicated seller.

About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced, entrepreneurial, and driven government sales professional to be our first boots on the ground in the public sector. AlphaSense already earns meaningful inbound government revenue, entirely unsolicited, and our product consistently stacks up against legacy providers, who are winning multi-million dollar competitive contracts in this space. We have never had a seller pursuing government business directly. You will be the first.

You know how government sales works: how agencies buy, who influences the decision, how procurement vehicles and channel partners fit in, and how long it really takes. You will use that knowledge to open doors at priority agencies and create pipelines from zero, converting early interest into the first wave of direct deals. This is an opportunity to join a high growth company, sell an award-winning product experiencing rapid adoption, and make a major contribution to our growth and future success.

Who You Are:

A government sales pro: You have 5+ years of experience selling into federal or public sector agencies and understand the buying process, budget cycles, procurement vehicles, and the people who influence and approve purchases. You've started from an empty pipeline before, or can clearly articulate how you would.

Agency-savvy: You understand, and ideally have relationships within, our priority agencies.

Channel-fluent: You are familiar with working through Carahsoft or similar government channel partners (a strong plus).

A hunter: You love to sell and thrive in a high-velocity, hypergrowth environment. The pace of legacy providers won't work here.

Value-based seller: You have strong value-based selling fundamentals and can articulate your version of the “science of sales.”

A strong communicator: You can explain complex data and concepts to non-technical audiences and communicate present and future value to stakeholders at all levels, from analysts to senior executives.

Intellectually curious: You ask the right questions and uncover mission needs and challenges at all levels of an agency.

Tenacious and coachable: You are hard-working with a ‘never give up’ attitude, open to feedback, and resourceful in getting things done where no playbook exists.

What You’ll Do:

Be the first AlphaSense presence at priority agencies, including Commerce, Defense, Energy, Labor, Justice, Treasury, the Federal Reserve, and FDIC, and generate pipeline from scratch through your own outreach.

Take responsibility for the end-to-end sales process: research opportunities, prospect, build relationships, conduct demos, manage product trials, and most importantly: close deals! No task is too small or too large.

Navigate agency buying processes, stakeholders, and procurement vehicles, and work with Carahsoft (or an equivalent partner) once compliance milestones are met.

Follow up on existing inbound government customers and interest, turning it into expansion and competitive wins against legacy providers.
