Hi there!

We’re looking for a sharp, practical, and technology-forward lawyer who thinks like a business operator and is eager to develop across a broad range of legal and business problems. This is a hands-on role anchored in procurement and mid-market commercial work, with opportunities to expand into new areas while rethinking how legal work gets done through AI, automation, and systems thinking. The right person will bring a strong analytical and problem-solving mindset, be eager to learn new areas, and thrive in a fast-paced, technology-forward, and intellectually challenging environment. This position provides a great opportunity to lead efforts to incorporate technology, like automation and AI, into legal operations and practice. You will serve as the team’s day-to-day point person for improving our existing automation and AI workflows and helping build the next ones, working closely with the General Counsel and the rest of the legal team. You will be a member of our legal team and report to the General Counsel .

About You:

You have exceptional drafting and negotiation skills. You are experienced at drafting and negotiating a range of inbound and outbound commercial contracts, including technology/cloud agreements, SaaS service agreements, contractor/consulting agreements, events-related agreements, and other business agreements.

You can research an unfamiliar regulation and apply strong business judgment to turn it into a practical recommendation. You have a knack for analyzing and assessing laws, regulations, and policies across multiple jurisdictions to extract the most relevant provisions for the business. You are comfortable with assessing risk and proposing solutions that balance risk with business goals.

You love new challenges. You have experience with, and an enthusiasm and intellectual curiosity for new legal issues. You are a creative thinker who is comfortable with change and ambiguity, and excited to learn areas of the law that may be new to you.

You think of yourself as a builder in legal practice. You see AI not as a one-off tool or a collection of isolated use cases, but as a new way of working. You are excited to integrate AI throughout your day-to-day practice, use it to process and analyze information, and help build and continually improve the systems and workflows through which legal work gets done.

You are self-aware and have a high EQ. You have a positive attitude with a solution-oriented mindset. You work effectively across teams and have strong listening and interpersonal skills.

You’re solid at time management. You are successful at working independently and have a proven track record of prioritizing and managing multiple matters simultaneously in a fast-paced, dynamic, and highly engaged environment. You also recognize when to ask for help or escalate issues.

You're a skilled communicator. You can take legalese and make it easy to read for a diverse workforce spanning the globe. Zapier is a 100% remote team and writing is our primary means of communication.

Qualifications & Experience

Juris Doctor degree

Admitted to practice and in good standing with one or more state bars in the US
