Role context
Pennylane currently operates around 50,000 business accounts through a BaaS model with Swan and is applying for Établissement de paiement and Société de financement licences. As we prepare to onboard new customers under our own licensed entity from mid-2027, we are building our first line of defence across onboarding, transaction monitoring, fraud and risk operations.
As Transaction Monitoring & Fraud Operations Lead , you will be one of the first operational leaders in this greenfield setup. Reporting to the Head of FinCrime Operations, you will lead first-line transaction monitoring and fraud operations across Pennylane’s payment activities within a single team. You will own first-line alert handling and fraud case management, with clear escalation paths to Compliance and Risk.
Your mission will be to build and launch Pennylane’s first-line transaction monitoring and fraud operations, then scale the team and its workflows as volumes grow—while maintaining strong decision quality, auditability and customer protection.
This is a high-autonomy role with direct exposure to a strategic regulatory project and close collaboration with Product, Compliance and Risk. You will help shape how Pennylane protects the financial activity of French SMEs as it brings more of its regulated operations in-house.
Responsibilities
Own end-to-end first-line transaction monitoring and fraud operations for business customers, ensuring that alert triage, investigations, customer outreach and escalations are completed in line with policies set by Compliance and Risk and within agreed SLAs.
Translate AML/CFT and fraud policies into operational procedures, decision trees and analyst playbooks, and provide evidence-based recommendations on alert quality and operational bottlenecks.
