About the role
Join our global force of 400+ innovators, blending the latest in tech with the greatest in soundtracking, from our Stockholm HQ to offices in London, New York, Los Angeles, Berlin, Paris, Oslo, and Seoul. We’re an industry leader with a startup mentality. We take what we do seriously, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously. Creating and collaborating to transform the sound of streaming, content, and culture. Come join us, and let the world feel your work
We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join the team behind Epidemic Sound’s Digital Rights Management (DRM) work on social media platforms. YouTube is our main focus right now. You’ll help build and run the services that keep claiming and safelisting content smooth and secure, working with large datasets on Google Cloud to support decisions in our revenue operations. It’s a chance to help shape how music rights work in the digital landscape. We build with AI coding tools as a regular part of how we work, so you’ll spend more time directing and reviewing than typing out code.
What you’ll be doing
Help make claiming and safelisting content smooth and secure for everyone who uses our service
Guide the technical direction when we build services for our customers
Monitor and optimise the services that fetch and analyse data from platforms like YouTube
Own your services end to end, including the infrastructure and monitoring around them
Work closely with data and machine learning engineers on the pipelines and models your services feed
About you
You’re a backend engineer who takes pride in building and maintaining reliable services. You’ve worked with high-availability systems and complex partner API integrations, and you’re comfortable handling large volumes of data, including meeting the requirements of the platforms we integrate with. You like designing services that are simple to reason about and easy for the next person to pick up.
Experience with DRM is ideal, but if you’ve worked on something similar, we’d like to hear from you.
Requirements
Backend development experience. Our services are built in Go, so experience with it helps, but we’ll teach you if you’re strong in another language (Kotlin, Java or Python)
Excel in processing and evaluating large volumes of data, with proficiency in SQL for data processing and integration tasks
Cloud experience, preferably Google Cloud Platform
Experience building microservices, whether event-driven or request/response.
Comfortable owning your infrastructure end to end (Kubernetes, Helm and Terraform)
Experience in algorithm evaluation, including testing and analysis of outputs
Fluent English, written and spoken
Nice to have
Some TypeScript and React, enough to build small internal tools yourself
Familiarity with audio formats, codecs or streaming
Exposure to machine learning systems in production
Equal opportunity employer We believe that bringing people together from different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives makes for a healthy workplace, a more successful business and a better world. We value diversity and encourage everyone to come and soundtrack the world with us.
